Solar PV For Your Home.

Solar PV can be installed on almost any property with any type of roof structure.

How Suitable Is My Property?

Nearly any type of property can have a roof mounted Solar PV generator installed. Different roof types require different mounting kits, and roofs with obstacles such as chimneys or roof lights require careful planning and design which is a service we pride ourselves in.
For the most solar irradiation a south facing roof is best with a slope of around 30 degrees. However if you don’t have a south facing roof it is possible to install a east / west split configuration, this configuration could give an output of around 80% - 85% of a truly south facing installation

Do I Need Planning Permission?

The government recently relaxed the rules for renewable technologies, in most cases planning permission is not needed for roof mounted solar generators providing they don’t protrude more than 200mm when installed. Exceptions are if your home is a listed building, or is in a conservation area or World Heritage Site.
For free standing or standalone systems some additional rules apply such as, the installation is no more than 4 metres in height, installed less than 5 metres away from any boundary and not be above a maximum area of array of 9m2.
It is always best to check first with your local planning officer if there are any doubts, something we at Future Solar are happy to help you

Where & How Will The PV Panels Be Installed?

The panels will be installed either "in roof" or "on roof" in the case of roof mounted installations.
"In Roof" is an installation method by which roof tiles or covering are replaced with tiles that are solar panels, this makes for a more subtle appearance but is less efficient and more expensive.
"On Roof" is an installation method by which the solar panels are installed above the existing roof structure on a specially designed low profile frame, this method is more cost effective and allows for the implementation of more efficient Hybrid technology.
